Hoorn - The Netherlands
Dear Laser sailor,
Hoorn is the venue for the ILE 2012 in The Netherlands. This location has been selected not only for its splendid racing conditions and sailing infrastructure, it is also one of the finest historic towns along the IJsselmeer borders. Hoorn's city center is within walking distance of the launch area. For those not sailing, Hoorn is a very interesting port dating from the 17th century. Back then, the harbour provided open access to the Zuiderzee and the seas beyond. Hoorn prospered in this Dutch 'Golden Age', when one of Hoorn's sons, Jan Pieterszoon Coen, founded Batavia in Indonesia.
Hoorn is only 30 minutes away from Amsterdam center. Directions to the location are provided elsewhere on this site, along with tips for accomodation.
We expect around 150 participants in the Standard, Radial and 4.7 class. Each class will have its own course, start and administration.
